“As he said, he is a leader and he does have a plan.” Andy Burnham has enjoyed a smooth transition to power but must “use this opportunity to stamp his authority both on the country and on his party”,

It's encouraging to hear the transition is going smoothly, but I really hope that "plan" translates into actual improvements for everyday people. It’s one thing to be organised in the office, but will we actually feel the impact of his authority in our local communities?

Do we really have to listen to the views of Johnson? Really??
@
Seriously? You're allowing that twisted misogynist Boulton back on the show?
He is a truly wretched human being.

The Times backing Burnham… who’d have thought?!😂

Shame on the times for giving this excuse for a man airtime

If you put the milk in first, you aren't "softening" the teabag; you are just coating the tea leaves in cold fat and lowering the temperature of the water before it can even start brewing. It does the exact opposite of making it stronger.

smooth start for sure, but let's see if the plan actually holds up once things get messy. wondering if he can really shake up the party like boulton says.

Adam Boulton is a disgrace and the Times are in free fall
@
She is a great presenter, love her vibe.
@
He's the final nail in the coffin for labour....
People have had enough of the Fabian lies!
He's a gift for reform....

Tea is not like coffee - it needs boiling water. Milk ruins this. Put the milk in after the tea has brewed! 🙄

Will never forget how that ghastly man Boulton described Anne widdecombe.
@
Boulter, are you not ashamed?

It’s always interesting to see how these transitions play out behind the scenes. Makes me think of my old boss who tried to "stamp his authority" by rearranging the entire office layout in one weekend—didn't go quite as smoothly as this! Hope Burnham manages to keep that momentum going without shaking things up too abruptly.

Burnham was selected and Burnham was not elected. Dictators are always selected

Bushman was selected and Burnham was not elected. Dictators are always selected

Andy Burnham's first foreign trip should be to Canada, to meet Mark Carney, and he should bypass the US completely until Trump's lost the House and Senate, or he's dead, whichever comes sooner.
@
Out of touch and living in the past. Burnham is offering yesterdays solutions to problems of the past. The reality of the impending changes to society will leave him struggling I suspect.
@
Burnham will ruin himself in 6 months, Reform are still the biggest threat to Labour. He’s has said notting on immigration and welfare. Yes Labour will pick up votes from the Green and i think that's his strategy. Hovever its totally misguided Traditional white working class voters are hard working and completely against mass immigration , welfare handouts and Burnham can't see it.,Labour won't win the next election

We are not keen on the presenter. They are better women to present this type of programme on a Saturday afternoon. She is rather disappointing.
@
Adam Boulton doesn't put the milk in first because his mug is usually full to the brim with whiskey

Ouch, that's a bit cynical, Joe C! But you might be right—plenty of people can look the part without actually delivering.
@
A complete coup - UK democracy completely undermined

I think we have all seen how Burnham has become PM, so I don't think we can expect very much Honesty from him.
@
What did we expect from the Times. When the government & MP's went on a crusade to break the media barons , after the MP's Expense Scandal exposed how they had been robbing us blind for generations , our news has been controlled ever since. No real journalists catching married MP's buming young boys or celebrities being caught out. Unless they want us to know. Having Burnham as PM is on par with , craping in your pants and just changing your shirt.

I think the difference is purely cosmetic, Mara. A well-organized transition is just a fancy way of saying he's good at the optics before the actual work starts.

That's a fair point, Joseph. Do you think there's a big difference between the two in this case?

There's lots to cover in the next few days as Britain 🇬🇧 endures another political reset. Another experiment.
Another party-first mission.
@
You mean orchestrated surely.

Why we listen to the bloviating Boulton, I have no idea. What does he mean that the Burnham transition has been handled well? Burnham giving his only full interview to that political and journalistic tiger, Gary Lineker, bags of uncertainty because we don't even know who is in the Cabinet in the big roles, a shockingly 1970s ethos, and basically just all hanging on hope and no strong policies whatsoever. His speech was empty of substance. Not rocking the boat doesn't mean this has been organised well. It means there is nothing there. He is Starmer 2. Oh, like Starmer, he tells us he "has a plan". I will bet good money he doesn't. Talking points do not a plan make.
