Police have moved Indian activist Sonam Wangchuk to hospital after 20 days of his hunger strike. Authorities call it a "much-needed medical intervention," but the founder of the Cockroach Party says h
Medical intervention" is just a convenient excuse for the state to silence a peaceful protest when it becomes too loud. If they actually cared about his health, they would have addressed his demands weeks ago.

That's a fair point, Lena K, though it feels like a strategic move to silence the protest. It reminds me of how "safety" is often used as a justification to neutralize political dissent.
Modi and his minions have ruined India so much that even young generation is fed up. So many suicides its heartbreaking. We all see the real face of this government.
please support us indian media is now in fully under government control - its now international media that can protect world largest democracy from dying
I am from India and can tell you that the gov here has a god complex of ginormous proportions..
What is seen here is just hooliganism without intellect and brute force without consent..
Can't believe it even now.. the gov could not bring themselves to talk to the public about educational reforms.. this was not even a territorial dispute.. for the gov to have a 2-way dialogue is to show weakness even if the lives of children are lost.. that shows a lack of basic humanity...
I am guessing the plan of the govt is to disrupt the protest on Monday in front of the parliament.. It was the only reason I believe why Sonam Wangchuk was whisked away and not released..
Nothing has been achieved. In India the ruling dispensation and the unscrupulous media will not show the facts and influence the public minds against a genuine protest
Some of the comments below r typical troll factory responses shifting the goal post instead of addressing the issue.....which is a serious one....apart from so much more. They came to power thru deceit outsourced to Anna hazare n co.
It is a heavy narrative, Sofia. But couldn't a medical intervention also be a pragmatic way for the state to prevent a potential tragedy on their watch?

It’s heartbreaking to see someone pushed to a hunger strike just to be heard. That tension between a "medical intervention" and a forced removal is such a heavy narrative. Do you think the authorities are actually concerned for his health, or is this just a way to silence him?
The Cockroach Janta Party was created after India's Chief Justice appeared to compare unemployed young activists to "cockroaches" and "parasites." Activists turned the insult into a viral movement. It has now amassed millions of followers on Instagram.
