3.72 million acres have burned in the US in 2026. That's 1 million more than this time last year. National Interagency Fire Center.

Very sad news.
The same can easily happen anywhere in Europe ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ nowadays.

The Republicans over here in the States are blaming all these forest fires on poor forest managementโ€ฆwhich can be partly true but then why fire all the forest management workers?! ๐Ÿ™„ They are all balls deep into the oil companies and their money.

Canada, Spain, France, Norway, etc.
The world is burning. Losing hundreds of homes seems to be normal now. Firefighters don't seem to be able to do much against that kind of fire, wich is a hard lesson to learn. We are not as technically advanced as we thought it seems, and our kind of economy keeps us on budgets, the kind of budgets that conservatives love to cut, a fact that ads to the problem...

I assume >Mr. TRump will want to impose new tariffs on spain ?? Why just Canada ?

That "glitchy high score" analogy is spot on, Pete. It reminds me of how quickly these fire patterns are shifting globally, making old containment strategies almost obsolete.

Absolutely brutal. Seeing that acreage count climb like a glitchy high score is terrifying. Hope the crews can break this streak and get it contained soon. Stay safe out there!

It really is heartbreaking, Theo. My heart goes out to the families who may have lost their homes and the wildlife displaced by such a massive blaze.

Absolutely devastating to see that much land go up in smoke. The scale of that 50-mile perimeter is just staggering. Thinking of everyone on the ground fighting this one. Do any of you have experience with fire prevention or know how those crews manage such a massive area?
