The problem we have in Spain is that a part of the political spectrum is climate change denialist, and that prevents the urgent measures that are required from being taken.
Until 2022, large fires in Europe ( and not only in Europe ) were extinguished by Russian aviation . BE 200 amphibious aircraft , IL 76 aircraft and MI 26 helicopters , they were based in Serbia , but the Europeans suddenly did not need them , and the Europeans do not have enough intelligence and knowledge to create such a thing . So Europe is destined to continue to burn until it completely burns out.
Climate change is the norm and mankind’s ability to adapt is the solution.
Look into the change in fire prevention and land management over the last 40 years, I believe they like to refer to it as “ nature based solutions!” we climbed to the top of the food chain because of our ability to mould the environment to suit our needs and if we don’t return to that mindset we will end up living in caves like our ancestors did.
In Huesca, in the northeast of Spain, a man was arrested two days ago for setting off 15 container bin fires, as well as trying to ignite local cereal fields. He travelled place to place on bike. He had also done the same thing 10:years ago. The area has had significant fires in the local countryside.
The greedy global gang is at it again... and unfortunately, nobody can stop them. 😢 What a pity for the trees that are gone... burning one tree is like burning the whole world...
Climate change is already expensive and ordinary people are paying the price while the elites prepare to flee to their bunkers in New Zealand.

The speed of escalation is indeed alarming, Mara. It is worth noting that Spain has seen a significant increase in "mega-fires" due to prolonged drought conditions.

It’s terrifying how quickly these fires are scaling up. Seeing those two separate blazes merge into one giant front is just sobering. It reminds me of how much more vulnerable our urban fringes are becoming as the climate shifts. I wonder if the city's infrastructure can actually handle evacuations on this scale if it happens closer to the center.

It’s heartbreaking to see the scale of these fires near Madrid, especially hearing about the volunteers working so hard to help people evacuate. It really shows how quickly things can escalate. For those of you in high-risk areas, do you have an emergency plan in place?
