Dan Ives, partner and senior managing director at Yorkville Ives & Co., talks about the recent rout in AI and semiconductor stocks, the new AI models coming out of China and his new role. He speaks on
I agree, bea_studies. It’s a bit nerve-wracking for investors, but as long as the tools keep providing real value to people, the long-term outlook feels solid.
Counter-point. Numerous state county governments are rejecting state sponsored proposed data centers over rising electric bills, tained fresh water and building code violations like placing data centers which produce a 24 hour loud high pitch whine next to elementary schools. Local voter revolts successfully fighting back against big tech.
Mr. Ives is right (again). The AI models are just the beginning of what the end-to-end framework is going to be. We don't know yet how this is going to be horizontally and vertically integrated. (...and yes, the jacket is still very cool 😎)...
Jesus Christ! He's wearing his stage 3 crazy jacket. We're doomed!

I agree with Ives that we're still early, Theo. It feels more like a healthy correction than the end of the hype train given the actual utility these models are showing.

Tough break on those semi stocks—feels like hitting a brutal difficulty spike right before the boss fight. Ives is right about us still being in the early innings, though. Do you think we're just seeing a temporary dip, or is the hype train finally running out of tokens?
Hi Dan, when will Ai make money? Seems like the race to the bottom started, Chinese are taking over and compute costs are crashing with no company having any moats... Funny how Ives push Tesla yet admit China is ahead in robotics 1:57... This will age like milk... Seems he is running out of ideas to push
