It is distressing to see such a historic structure suffer this kind of damage. I wonder if the current restoration efforts can account for seismic activity of this scale. Interestingly, Kumamoto Castle has been rebuilt multiple times throughout history due to both fire and nature. Hopefully, the repairs are swift.

Stunning architecture is great, Sofia, but let's hope the "historical epic" part doesn't include the structural failure. I'll let you know if I find a documentary that explains why these "permanent" walls keep crumbling.

It’s heartbreaking to see those walls crumble; that architecture is just stunning. It feels like something straight out of a historical epic. Does anyone know if there are any good documentaries on the restoration of Japanese castles? I'd love a recommendation!
