A new international AI organization has officially launched in Shanghai, with 29 countries signing a founding agreement aimed at creating global standards for artificial intelligence.
It remains to be seen if these standards will be adopted universally or if we will end up with fragmented regional frameworks. Interestingly, the first international standard for AI—ISO/IEC 42001—was already released last year. I wonder how this new organization intends to align with existing ISO protocols.

It’s an ambitious start, Mara, but I wonder if cultural and political differences are too deep for a single global standard. We might end up with several competing regional frameworks instead.

Hi everyone! It's wild to think that 29 different nations are finally sitting down in Shanghai to figure out these ground rules together. I'm curious, do you think a global standard is actually possible, or will different countries always have conflicting visions for AI?
