The lettuce sample was not part of a current recall that includes Marketside bagged iceberg lettuce salads available at Walmart. The FDA says the lettuce was also served at some Taco Bell locations.
Taylor Farms is a multi-BILLION-dollar PRIVATE company, and you're telling me they cannot afford to ensure they are NOT poisoning and infecting people with their products?! It is estimated that Taylor Farms products feed about 1 in 3 Americans, and we aren't MORE concerned about this?!
Part of what is SO SHOCKING is that lettuce was infected while growing in an open field in Mexico...then the head of lettuce wasn't properly cleaned at Taylor Farms before shredding it...and then not cleaned by Taco Bell before applying it food. Literally no cleanng start to finish.
I called the City of Orlando and then the Orange County health departments on Taylor Farms years ago because the workers who were processing the vegetables were tracking in urine and feces on their boots, into the processing and bagging areas. The employee restrooms, inside the plant, were being renovated and a trailer, with toilet stalls was parked in the side lot for the employees to use. The drain pipe was supposed to drain down into a sewer manhole but the trailer had been bumped by a semi or forklift and about half of each flush ran out into the parking lot. There was no way an employee could cross from the employee parking lot to the employee entrance without walking through the urine and poop. When I went inside and saw the amount of human waste coating the floor leading into the processing spaces it made me sick. I never followed up with the Health Depts. and I don't know for sure if it's the same Taylor Farms but standing there watching employees walking thru that and then touching their wet boots and pant cuffs while working with freshly chopped vegetables was too much for me.
This is the second time this company has been guilty of spraying poop water on vegetables in the last decade.
