This is worrying for anyone planning their studies in the US. Replacing "duration of status" with fixed terms seems like it will add so much unnecessary stress and paperwork for students. Does anyone know if this will apply to those who already have their visas, or just new applicants from September?

Hi everyone! This shift from "duration of status" to fixed terms for F-1 and J-1 visas feels like a huge change for students and researchers. It definitely adds a layer of stress to the planning process. Do any of you have friends or family currently applying who are worried about this?
