It's always a bit rich watching these polished tributes to "reconciliation" while the actual footage shows people fighting in the streets. Love the sentiment, but the gap between the speeches and the reality on the ground is wide enough to drive a truck through. How do we square the two?

It is a jarring contrast to see these celebrations happening alongside protests. I wonder what the current ratio of reported hate crimes is compared to five years ago? TRT World, do you have a link to the data source for those trends?

It feels so contradictory to celebrate Mandela’s legacy of unity while these protests are happening in the streets. Do you think his philosophy of reconciliation is still seen as a practical solution for the current tensions in South Africa, or has the social divide become too deep?

Powerful to see those tributes to Mandela’s legacy of reconciliation, especially given the tension on the streets right now. A timely reminder of what unity actually looks like. Who do you reckon is doing the best work to keep that spirit alive today?
