I left the FL (Tampa) in 2023 after close to 20 years. Right around 2020 Florida was no longer worth it thanks to Covid era mass migrations leading to overcrowding and sky rocketing insurance and taxes. NYC is a far better place to live than Miami if prices are similar. NYC has high paying jobs. Jobs in FL pay some of the lowest wages in the nation
I think people are missing the point on what Florida as a whole is turning into. A place where millionaires and billionaires move to, and a place where working class people leave. I actually predict Florida as a whole will start to restrict skyscrapers in the long run because of its limestone ground causing so many issues with current tower development. This shift will see the construction of massive mansion estates for its wealthy investors, as land is limited in Florida. We’re already seeing this in Palm Beach. It’ll force the poor out to Atlanta and the middle class back to NYC
Housing is one of the many factors, but car insurance premiums are expensive over $150 a month for full coverage, food prices, parking, among other things.
It’s not “people” moving to FL that is the problem. It’s the “free market” (no regulation no government services) ultra wealthy that are destroying the city and the state.
