Large floods were deliberately created for the total cleansing of advanced civilizations in the ancient era. After they were leveled, the debris could not be cleaned by itself so there had to be an efficient cleaning method.

The Expedition Unknown did definitively show it wouldn't be all that hard to haul the blocks on a dirt ramp with wooden ribs, lubricated with water. The engineering of the machine will be the smoking gun, not the stack of blocks.
