Whether the allegation holds or is dismissed, there's a big question mark on the circumstances surrounding the sacking given the current high profile cases at the ICC.
I really don't like the idea of taking punitive action before guilt is established. Makes it reeeeaaaallly easy to destroy the futures of innocent people.
If anyone can lose their office based on accusations alone then how can anyone stay in office because there will always be people willing to make false accusations from any place at any time.
Why by secret ballot ? Who did not want to show his hand for the risk of having to explain his vote ? Why was this court of eminent scolars incapable of creating a succession procedure ? Who forced the vote ? The sequence of events makes no sense unless it was an organized deliberate attack on the court.
