Andy is one of the most popular science fiction writers alive today. He also wrote The Martian. What’s special about his work is how real his fake stories are. He showed m
28:11 when he corrects himself from saying "you should", to "how I would do it" really made me realize I think I say the former way more than I should. Gunna steal this. Thanks.
Oh my goodness I think you just had exactly the conversation that I would love to have with him!! Amazing author and both of you are incredible thinkers!
Really speaks to how respected you (and the entire show) is Cleo, being able to interview Andy Weir. It's obvious that he's watched your videos and likes your content.
PLEASE, keep it up!
This interview just completely rewired my perspective on writing science fiction. I had no idea someone could go this deep into world-building by starting with fundamental science and reverse-engineering the rest. I wasn't familiar with Andy before this, but watching him apply actual physics and cross-domain synthesis to fiction is mind-blowing. He’s honestly motivated me to start writing my own concepts for fun. Thank you for a genuinely life-changing interview!
One of my favorite moments of the book is when Rocky is in awe of how humans can “hear” light and he is amazed by humans can “hear” the stars. It really got the feeling of humans being awesome across.
This is a FANTASTIC interview! WHY CAN"T MORE INTERVIEWERS LET THE INTERVIEWEE TALK?!? He's excited, and interested, and passionate! And this is one of the few interviews in which it's obvious. 👏👏
"Let's not just talk about how you did the thing, let's actually do the thing" is a really unique approach to an interview that perfectly fits for Andy Weir. Excellent stuff.
The smile on both their faces when discussing shows sparks of pure curiosity and I can't help smile along.
