Democracies have elections !😳😳😳😳😳 No need for an election ? Right.
@
Who will be PM in just a few years?
@
Wonder who will replace him in 2027?

Can't wait to see who's gonna play him on SNL UK.
@
It's exactly the same in Canada. Parliamentary.
@
UK is sooo cooked! Just utter corruption, and Burham is just Starmer on steroids.
@
This is gonna be Starmer all over again. Came in popular, lose support fast, kick out in two years. Then, the process repeats.
@
Mayor of Manchester, how has THAT GONE?

The UK has one PM per year.
@
So a false display of change of anything. The same horrible leadership by another crony.
@
No need for an election by the people? Thats all you need to say to tell people your corrupt.

Starmer Part 2? 🤣
@
Because Britain is not a democracy regardless of the lies politicians tell
@
Nothing will change from policy with Burnham.
@
7 prime ministers....it's a crazy cast of incompetence
@
They have a new PM to do the same old things and expect a different new outcome. So that they can say, it's not the policy but the person.
@
Out with the old, in with the old....
@
I love how the title makes it sound like this needs to be explained as if it hasn’t happened 4 times before Starmer since 2010

"Constitutional choreography" are such beautiful words.

I agree, Cal, the shift in leadership style could be really significant here. Do you think his experience as mayor will make him more focused on regional issues than Starmer was?

The mechanism for leadership changes in the UK always feels like such a glitch in the system compared to a full general election. I wonder if this internal shift will actually change the policy direction or if the party machine just keeps rolling the same way regardless of who's at the top.

Big shift coming to Number 10! Seeing Andy Burnham step up as PM is a massive move for the country. It'll be interesting to see how his style differs from Starmer's. Who do you reckon will be the first big test for him? Let me know below!
